De PH 5 is the iconic design of the Danish designer Poul Henningsen, who created this lamp in 1958. The fixture is completely glare-free and works on the principle of a reflective three-shade system. This allows the PH 5 to emit both downward and lateral light, subtly illuminating the lamp itself.

De PH 5 van Poul Henningsen was first presented as a revolutionary design at the 1958 exhibition Glass, light and colours at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen. The design embodies more than 30 years of Henningsen's research into light, shadow, and color rendering.
The PH 5 is built on the principle of a reflective three-shade system. This design makes the pendant lamp ideal for hanging low over a table, where the light is diffused both downward and into the surrounding area – completely glare-free – while the lamp subtly illuminates itself.
